KAYAKING
(Back)
We love to kayak. We offer kayak tours all year long as long as the weather permits. Tours are 2 1/2 hours long and include all necessary kayak gear and a guide. We have double and single kayaks available. We have several tours to choose from.
CHILDREN'S ACTIVITY TOUR:
This tour is geared toward children but adults enjoy it just as much. The salt marshes of the outer banks are home to an astonishing variety of plants and animals. We try to get a closer look at some of the bird life we'll bring a seine net, dip nets, bucket and catch some of the marsh creatures. These can include many varieties of fish, crabs, shrimp, clams, oysters, mussels and more. We'll take a look, learn a little about their life and then let them go. Great wet fun on a hot afternoon. This tour is available Monday - Saturday and leaves from Roanoke Island or surrounding areas. Location depends on wind directions.
WILDLIFE ECO-TOUR:
This tour is geared more toward adults but children are welcome. The Outer Banks is home to many types of wildlife. During this tour we'll search for the abundance of birds such as osprey, herons, egrets, ducks and other birds. Along the way you'll find out about the natural history of the Outer Banks and its plants and animals. This tour is available Monday - Saturday and leaves from Roanoke Island or surrounding areas. Location depends on wind directions.
Kayak Tours: $29 adult/$15 child (under 12 yrs. old and shares a double kayak w/adult)
EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK, Florida
In February, we head south to Kayak in Everglades National Park. We've been leading trips in the Everglades for 13 years now. Trips take place in February. We paddle out on a Monday from Everglades City, Florida and return on a Friday for the 5 day trip or return on Thursday for the 4 day trip. We camp on deserted islands on white sand beaches. You don't need any kayaking experience just average physical ability and an adventurers heart. A typical trip consists of packing up and leaving in the morning, paddling 4 -5 hours and setting up a base camp. Then you can choose to take one of the daily kayaking trips, or hang out on the beach and fish, sun or read. Or you can paddle one day and relax the next.
You can choose from two types of trips:
1) Bring your own tent, camping gear and food, we supply the kayaks, guide and all related paddling gear and permits.
$295 - 5 day trip
2) We supply everything and you just show up: Includes all the above plus 3 meals a day, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad.
$750 - 5 day trip
All participants will need to bring their own snacks, clothing, personal items and toiletries, books, etc. Once you are confirmed for the trip we will send a packing list of suggested items to bring as well as a breakdown of what to expect.
